Nobile di Montepulciano Boscarelli 2018
Nobile di Montepulciano Boscarelli 2018
Boscarelli's Nobile di Montepulciano is the winery's most traditional and representative label, a true paradigm of the territory. In fact, this great red has maintained constant quality and production method since 1968, the year it was first put on the market. It is therefore a legendary label that has contributed significantly to writing the history of the denomination and the territory.
Boscarelli Nobile di Montepuciano is obtained for the most part from Sangiovese grapes, known locally as Prugnolo Gentile, with the addition in minimum percentages of Colorino, Mammolo and Canaiolo. The vines grow on calcareous soils of alluvial and sandy origin, with a good presence of silt, clay and stony skeleton. The grapes are selected from 10-year-old vines and transported to the cellar for the vinification stages. After the grapes have been crushed and destemmed, spontaneous fermentation is initiated, thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts, in oak or steel vats filled to no more than two-thirds of their capacity to ensure good oxygenation. Fermentation lasts one week and, during this phase, pumping over and punching down are envisaged. Maceration continues for 5 to 8 days after fermentation. Ageing takes place in Allier and Slavonian oak casks of varying capacity for a period of 18 to 24 months.
Nobile Boscarelli is a traditional, impeccable and elegant expression of the Montepulciano territory. It presents itself to the eye with an intense ruby red colour. The nose has elegant hints of rose violets, morello cherry and wild berry jam, combined with spicy and mineral notes with traces of liquorice and toast. The palate is soft, firm, warm, enveloping and elegant, with a dense tannic texture. This is a structured and sustained red wine to be paired with tasty meat dishes or mature cheeses, a vigorous expression that indulges slowly over time, giving great satisfaction to the senses.
